Review of Fiji Expedition by Lucy Misch

People often ask me which was the best part of my gap year. I tell them that Fiji was the most intense and amazing experience I had. Why? Because I learnt how to recognise and talk about every species in the Indo-pacific. I saw things I had only ever seen on TV. I made friends that I will never lose contact with, and I also began to realise how I could live without my creature comforts. When I think back to the fun we had on the surveys there are too many moments to record. One time we were on our first deep survey dive of the day and were about half way down when a large sting-ray came swooping out of the blue. We just watched in awe as this massive creature moved majestically through the water. It circled us once and then disappeared. It was a stunning moment!
My experience is something I will never repeat and one you shouldn’t miss out on. Diving for me has become a passion, and now as a fully-fledged instructor I teach throughout my university term. Every holiday I travel and teach diving, educating people about the coral reefs and helping other divers and snorkellers enjoy their holidays with fish identification.
If you have a sense of adventure and a need for a challenge, then Coral Cay can provide you with a chance to give something back to the amazing world we live in.
