The Times Travel supplement published an article by David Bellamy, Coral Cay Conservation’s President and one of Britain’s best-known and respected botanists. The article ‘Ecotourism? I hate the word’ coincides with the Responsible Tourism Awards, which showcases tourism ventures that make a positive contribution to conservation and the economies of local communities while minimizing any negative impacts of tourism. He talks about how “tourism is faced with the problem that, the more people do it, the greater the wear and tear on the environment” and celebrates the mission of Coral Cay Conservation of “building the gap year experience to help to protect and restore coral reefs and tropical forests”.
