“Divers descend on Durham for DiveWise”
Added to website: 01 February 2006
Divewise is to be held at Durham University on Sunday March 12th with an exciting programme for divers of all levels. Yet again the northern regional conference has attracted some excellent presentations for its annual conference. Conference organiser David Taylor said ”As it is our 10th birthday party, we have gone out of our way to ensure that this will be the best Divewise yet, best presentations, best raffle prizes and the best day out we have ever offered”.
Keynote speaker and presentation for the day will be the founder and chairman of Coral Cay Conservation, Peter Raines, looking at the work they do in many locations across the world. Graeme Bruce has agreed to attend, looking at some of the tools and techniques that can make diving both safer and more fun. Planned presentations from ‘Men in Uniform’ include 202 Squadrons rescue helicopter crew and also the marine unit of Northumbria police. Further presentations include the renowned photographer Peter Collings looking at photo safaris in the Red Sea, and a local branch recounting a branch visit to Skye.
Presentations based on the regional coaching team and regional branch activities are planned, and all of the coaching team will be there to answer any questions that you or your branch may have.
As usual, all entry tickets go into a free prize draw for an Otter dry suit, and the raffle has a grand prize of a week Red Sea Live aboard for two, courtesy of Tony Backhurst Scuba. Other raffle prizes include equipment from the likes of Beaver, A&P Valves and Suunto with clothing from Seven Tenths, DNA and Diving Daisy.
