Isles of Scilly Seagrass Survey and Diving Expedition 2005
Added to website: 08 May 2005
As one volunteer has had to pull out at the last minute, a place on the 2005 Isles of Scilly Expedition has become available.
Coral Cay Conservation Society Members are invited to apply to join the expedition which runs from Saturday 30 July to Saturday 6 August.
The aim of the expedition is to survey the main seagrass beds found in the Scillies archipelago. These are of economic and ecological importance and the work is supported by English Nature. There will also be the opportunity for diving in waters which offer “arguably the perfect mix of wrecks and reefs” (DIVE, May 2005).
Expedition fees (£350.00) cover: the return ferry from Penzance, all fuel, air, accommodation, breakfast and picnic lunch. Extras: evening meals and personal incidentals.
All survey techniques are taught during the trip so you do not need prior experience of seagrass survey diving.
You do, however, need to be interested in marine natural history, AOW/Sports Diver or higher and ‘dived-up’ for British waters by the beginning of the expedition. The expedition is run independently of CCC by the organisers below.
