IYOR WATER BABE!
Added to website: 12 March 2008
2008 is the ‘International Year of the Reef’ and to celebrate this, four year-old Emily Raines took a dip for coral reefs in the ‘Discover Scuba’ pool at the recent London International Dive Show.
Pete Raines MBE, CCC’s Founder (and proud dad!) watched in awe as Emily buddied up with an inflatable shark and vanished below the surface to explore a whole new world. “I’m delighted that Emmy’s first ever scuba buddy was a shark, there to promote the fantastic conservation work being done by The Shark Trust. Her twin brother, Tom, was also busy diving - into a large barrel of sweets that someone had unwisely left unattended by the pool!”
Throughout IYOR 2008, CCC will be running a series of programmes aimed at providing opportunities for children to get actively involved in coral reef conservation. These include the Jack Petchey Scholarship Programme, a talk at the Natural History Museum, London and training internships forLondon schoolchildren.
