Padi Tightens Requirements Related To Diving Course Quality

PADI has recently introduced new policy that requires all PADI students to have, in their possession, a personal set of PADI manuals.

Effective 1 January 2006
“….Minimum Required Materials: The PADI Dive Center, Resort, and/or Instructor conducting a course must ensure that student divers have, in their possession, a personal set of materials (as defined in the list of required materials for the course), for study and use during the course and for reference afterward; unless the materials are not available in a language understood by the student diver. Student divers must have a current version of the required materials”.
This requirement is effective from the 1st January 2006 and applies to CCC Volunteers undertaking PADI Open, Advanced, *Emergency First Response, Dive Master and Rescue Diver Qualifications.
To date these books have been available on CCC expedition sites on a shared basis. This new policy requires Volunteers to purchase and carry their own books to site.
These manuals can be purchased from London Scuba. Their costs for 2006 are as follows:
- Open water Crewpack £45
- Advanced Open Water Crewpack £31.50
- Rescue Diver Crewpack £38.00
- Divemaster Crewpack £60.99
