Volunteers' Week- Free Access to WWV Database!
Added to website: 08 May 2005
‘Volunteers’ Week, 1-7 June 2005, is the UK’s annual celebration of the work volunteers do. During the Week events are held across the country to recognise, reward and recruit volunteers. To celebrate this week, WorldWide Volunteering (WWV) is making its on-line database FREE for 1-7 June 2005.
WorldWide Volunteering’s online database of 350,000 volunteering opportunities in 215 countries (including the UK) enables people to quickly search through placements offered by 1200 organisations and produce a tailored list to suit their own requirements.
It is an excellent database run by a registered charity (in its 11th year) promoting worldwide volunteering opportunities for people of all ages. It is one of the government’s ‘curriculum on line’ accredited resources and is also included on the www.teachernet.gov.uk website as a useful site. Both the Russell Commission and a DfES consultation group have commented very favourably on its value.
To get free access to the website log on between 1-7 June 2005.
