DARWIN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME LAUNCHED
Added to website: 11 March 2008
The Field Studies Council, a UK based environmental education NGO, is launching a two week Darwin Scholarship Programme that aims to develop “better naturalists” in the spirit of Darwin’s love of nature and observing the natural world. The Scholarship is part of the official Darwin 200 Celebration programme. The Scholarship will focus on three areas
· skills of observation and identification
· skills of recording biodiversity
· skills of communicating biodiversity to different target groups
The full cost of the scholarship is 3000 GBP but the FSC is funding most of this ourselves. Scholars will have to find 750 GBP and the cost of the flight. I believe that is fantastic value for a two week high level training course in the UK.
The deadline for applications was 31 March but as this information has just reached you this has been extended to the 25 April.
Please do pass this information to anyone that is involved in your Darwin project you think would be interested in this programme and would benefit from this training. I am sure that it would be really useful to anyone in your project involved in public participation for example. Perhaps attending the scholarship could be tied in with a visit to the UK for some members of your project teams?
