Student Projects In Collaboration With CCC
Added to website: 01 February 2005
CCC provides opportunities for students wishing to pursue under-graduate and post-graduate research for theses and dissertations on tropical ecosystems. CCC does not offer funding but can provide support in terms of scientific advice, logistical field support or access to archived databases. Students are asked to submit their project proposal in accordance with the guidelines detailed on the proposal forms.
CCC supports both undergraduate and postgraduate projects, however undergraduates are encouraged to focus on the analysis of existing datasets whereas postgraduates can (subject to approval) undertake projects that involve fieldwork.
Before submitting a project idea and proposal to CCC, all students must be familiar with CCC expedition operations, science work and project locations. There are significant time and logistical constraints for individual research projects, hence undergraduate students are encouraged to use current and archived databases rather than collect new data. CCC surveys concentrate mainly on spatial rather than temporal data, and this should be considered during the project design phase.
Projects ideas must contribute conservation value to the overall aims and objectives of CCC, and should additionally contribute to the accurately planned survey goals of the CCC initiative where it is proposed the student project will be undertaken.
