2 VACANCIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS

The University of the Virgin Islands has two positions available in the Biology program starting this autumn. A short description of the positions is provided below. The full announcements are available here.
Assistant or Associate Professor of Biology: A PhD in the Biological Sciences is required. All areas of biology will be considered, but preference will be given to individuals with expertise in plant biology,ecology, microbiology, or invertebrates. Significant funding opportunities may be available through the Virgin Islands EPSCoR program, which supports ongoing development of infrastructure in marine science, and is focused on the research area of Integrated Caribbean Coral Reef Ecosystems. The successful candidate will have strong commitment to teaching excellence and undergraduate research. Applicants with experience and interest in general science education are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching duties may include participation in general science courses, the core biology curriculum and upper level courses in biology or marine biology. Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level, adaptability and genuine interest in teaching are important assets.
Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor of Biology: A PhD in Biology is preferred, but candidates with a Masters degree and significant teaching experience will be considered at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level. All areas of biology will be considered, but preference will be given to individuals with expertise in marine invertebrates, plant biology,or ecology. The successful candidate will have strong commitment to project based learning, undergraduate research and general science education. Applicants with experience and interest in general science education are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching duties may include participation in general science courses, the core biology curriculum, and upper level courses in biology or marine biology. Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level, adaptability and genuine interest in teaching are important assets.
