PRIOR APPLICANTS NEED NOT REAPPLY TO BE CONSIDERED.RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR II-SES, #77070356 (pending approval of reclassification to the above class title) JOB DESCRIPTIONThe successful candidate will direct and lead the statewide Habitat Research subsection; ensure that programs within the section meet priorities, goals and objectives of the Commission and Institute; direct planning of research and restoration projects on upland, freshwater and marine habitats, including sea grass and coral reef research and restoration, fresh water plant monitoring, and upland plant surveys and monitoring; develop long-term plans and budgets for subsection. He/she will be responsible for developing and monitoring annual working budgets and ensuring that expenditures do not exceed spending authority; lead and supervise assigned personnel; supervisory duties include but are not limited to: recruitment, training, planning and directing work, review of employee performance, and ensuring compliance with FWC/FWRI rules, policies and procedures and assure all program reports and manuscripts have been reviewed for content and scientific merit and approve for submission. He/she will ensure coordination of scientific activities across sections, work units and Divisions within FWC and establish cooperative working relationships with state, federal, private, and non-profit partners, collaborators and managers to ensure that habitat research and restoration activities meet priority management needs. Publishing independent research will be on time available basis. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA master's degree in one of the physical or natural sciences from an accredited college or university and five years of experience in one of the physical or natural sciences, of which two years must have been in a supervisory capacity. Applicants having experience in habitat monitoring and research are encouraged to apply. Experience in a leadership role or coordinating collaborative research on a number of diverse habitat types is preferred.
