"Using the best science, Coral Cay provides the
resources to help sustain livelihoods and alleviate poverty through the
protection of coral reefs & tropical forests”
Coral Cay has been at the forefront of community-based coral reef and tropical forest conservation science since 1986. We offer our services to host Governments and NGO’s at no cost, providing them with much-needed technical expertise and manpower which would otherwise be unaffordable. Through this innovative approach, we have increased awareness on the importance and management of coral reefs for the future prosperity of tropical communities in developing countries through our global footprint of successful programs and international recognition.
Our success is based on a holistic approach within three key areas: 1. scientific data gathering in support of environmental conservation 2. community outreach and education and 3. capacity building. Coral Cay Conservation has close relationships with internationally renowned marine research experts in the world. We have a Scientific Advisory Board, where we draw upon the lead conservation researchers around the world, if necessary, to assist us on our projects.
Coral Cay volunteers and scholars play a critical role in ensuring our efforts are effective at providing the best possible solutions towards conserving endangered habitats and meeting the needs of the dependent communities. Volunteers are at the forefront of grassroots conservation science, helping gather crucial information about the status and diversity of coral reef and rainforest habitats in those locations where our efforts are most needed.
