Volunteer on an expedition
The surveying done by volunteers is an essential component of the conservation strategies that Coral Cay Conservation employs. Along with education, raising awareness, capacity building and skills development programmes set up by CCC, data collected by volunteers' forms the backbone of the reports that go on to document the effects that non-sustainable activity can have on fragile tropical forest and coral reef ecosystems.
Government proposals are then produced which demonstrates examples by which long-term conservation can be achieved. Our work, in partnership with governments and other organisations, has resulted in the founding of numerous marine reserves and wildlife conservation areas.
One of CCCs most celebrated examples is CCCs involvement in the establishment of the Belize Barrier Reef as a World Heritage site in 1996, as well as several in-country Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). We have also made vast developments in the Philippines with our long-running forest and marine projects.
You can help by volunteering on a CCC expedition, where you will contribute to 'front line' conservation projects that make a positive difference to reefs, forests and the people who depend on them.
