The potential success of the project lies in its diverse mix of project partners and their expertise.
Detailed below is a list of current partners.
Coral Cay Conservation
A marine and forest conservation organisation based in the UK. CCC use international volunteers to fund their award winning
conservation projects. CCC is the lead partner in the project and co-ordinates the delivery.
Jacqueline Fisher Associates Ltd
JFA are specialists in ecological surveys, environmental assessment and management and will oversee biodiversity assessment
work and GIS development. JFA has within its team some very experienced tropical forest specialists and thus are key to
delivery of the project. In addition JFA will produce training manuals and educational materials.
The People of the Waria Valley
The people of the valley are the key stakeholders and are linked to all other project partners. This project aims to address
their needs and as such there is constant consultation with the communities living in the Waria Valley. The Waria Valley is
home to several villages and communities and as such they all have differing needs that need to be met by the project.
Forest Research Institute of Papua New Guinea
FRI are the main in country co-ordinating body and also act in assisting with the resource assessment component of the project.
FRI provide technical support to the forest inventory components and office space for co-ordination.
Briskanda
Briskanda is the development partnership that represents the people of the Waria Valley. Briskanda will act as one of the main
partners and facilitates representation of the key stakeholders.
Village Development Trust
VDT is an international development NGO based in Lae, Papua New Guinea that often works in partnership with Briskanda. VDT
assists with the development of alternative livelihood schemes and the future marketing of eco-tourism initiatives.
