Field Base Manager

Summary:

This is a 1 year contracted position, starting in January 2019, based in a remote area in the Philippines. The individual selected for this role will be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the project and ensuring that all aspects of the expedition are being conducted safely and within Coral Cay standards. This is a unique role, offering the right candidate the opportunity to build on their practical expedition management experience with an award-winning NGO.
 

Requirements

 

Minimum

  • PADI Divemaster (or equivalent)
  • Practical management and leadership experience 
  • Experience of working in remote, challenging areas
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Computer literate
  • Proven ability to work within local communities and developing countries
  • Proven ability to work well with project staff and volunteers
  • Off-Site safety management experience

 

Desirable

  • Good mechanical knowledge
  • PADI SCUBA Instructor
  • Budgeting and budget management experience
  • Remote medical / First aid training

Salary

£10,000 per annum (pro-rated) on completion of month long handover in country (half pay during handover). Contract – One year starting 6th January 2019 – 6th January 2020. Please note successful candidate will need to undertake preparatory training (detailed below) at the CCC Head office in Surrey before departure. During this time the candidate will need to cover their own lodging and board but will receive a £40 contribution towards their expenses, per full day's training). It is unfortunately not possible for candidates to undertake training remotely.

Further training

The successful candidate will receive the training outlined below (dependant on certifications already held and previous travel experience).

  • Scuba Pro Level One Technician Training
  • First aid training
  • Expedition Care Programme Instructor sign off
  • Food hygiene online course
  • Off Site Safety Management course
  • Travel Safety course
  • Training to PADI Dive Master if needed (on site, not including manuals and PICs)
